August 2010 Prayer Focus
30 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR THE MUSLIM WORLD
The Muslim holy month of Ramadan begins on August 11th and runs through September 9. This is also a time for Christians around the world to pray in a united manner for Muslims. A small prayer booklet that gives background on Muslim culture and beliefs, and countries and unreached people groups in the Islamic world is available in the church foyer (1 per family). Each day of Ramadan the text focuses on a need and ends with specific prayer requests. Plan now to pray through Ramadan for our Muslim neighbors. Our prayers during this month are part of God’s ancient desire to bless all the nations of the earth through His son Jesus Christ. Let’s join the millions of Christians around the world as we participate in this largest ongoing international prayer focus for our Muslim neighbors.
Become a Financial Supporter for Gary & Carol Oaks
Gary & Carol Oaks serve as self-supported Missionary Service Corps personnel through the North American Mission Board.
You can become a monthly financial partner to the Oaks by giving through the regular Mountain View offering (write Gary & Carol Oaks on envelope/check memo) or through the NAMB website (http://www.namb.net) – click the ‘Give Now’ tab at the top and scroll down to Support a Mission Service Corps Missionary and search for Gary Oaks.
Apply for a U.S. Passport
Passports or Passport Cards will be required for all entry into the US starting June 1, 2009. Because we may never know when or where God may call us, the On Mission Team is encouraging every member of MVBC to have a valid passport document.
Passports are valid worldwide for all types of travel. The application cost is $100 for 16yrs and up, $85 for under 16. Renewal Fees are $75.
Passport Cards are valid only for land or sea-port entry from Mexico, Canada, Bermuda, & the Caribbean. Application Cost is $45 for 16yrs and up, $35 for under 16. Renewal Fees are $20.
