Bret Burnett - Senior Pastor
bretb@mvbctucson.org

I grew up in the country of Brazil because my parents were missionaries there.  At the age of ten I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior and Lord.  From a very young age I wanted to be an architect, but during my senior year in high school I felt the Lord calling me into ministry.  I dedicated my life to full-time Christian ministry on January 24, 1984.  Later I came to understand that was to the pastorate.

After graduating from high school in Brazil I returned to the United States and attended Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX, graduating with a Bachelors in Business Administration.

In August of 1988, I married the most beautiful native Brazilian woman, Claudia.  Later that month I began my Masters in Theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, graduating in December of 1991.

In April 1992, God called Claudia and me to Yuma, Arizona to start a church.  We spent the following 14 years in Yuma growing a family personally and the family of God through Oasis Church.

We have two daughters, Amanda who is 14 years old and Andrea who is 11 years old.

After 14 years in Yuma, God has now called us to Tucson, AZ to serve at Mountain View Baptist Church.  I began my time here at Mountain View on June 1, 2006.  I look forward to what God will do through us as we move forward together.

When not working I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, golfing, hiking, and eating Mexican food.

Ross Pruitt - Worship & Education Pastor
rossp@mvbctucson.org

Ross Pruitt:  I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord in 1972 after a brief career in the secular music industry.  I began my new career as a minister of music in 1978.  Now, after over 20 years in the music ministry I, along with my wife Deanna, am still excited about serving God through music.  Prior to coming to Mountain View in 1999, I had served in 4 other Southern Baptist churches from Oklahoma to California. I am an ordained minister and a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University where I studied voice and choral arranging. I started my tenure here in August of 1999 and have been blessed to work with the most dedicated and Godly people in Tucson.  The following is a summary of the ministries I oversee.

Areas of Ministry under Pastor Ross's Leadership:

  • The Worship Choir: (meets weekly on Wed. nights - Sept through May)
  • The Elementary School Age Choir: called God's All Star Choir  (meet on Sunday afternoon, usually Sept.-May; for grades 1-6)
  • The Senior Adult Choir: called the Joy Singers (meet Wed. mornings in June, July, & December - sing in nursing homes/assisted living situations).
  • Education: Sunday morning Adult Bible Study and Sunday School.

Shawn Pack - Pastor to Students
shawnp@mvbctucson.org
I was born into a family of mixed heritage. My mother was from South Korea and was a practicing Buddhist, and my father was a Christian who hadn't actively participated in church for years.  Soon after I was born, my father began taking me to church, and a miracle happened. One day, after we had convinced my mother to go, she repented of her sins and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior!  My father quickly rededicated his life to the Lord, and I accepted Christ as my Savior not long after.  We were privileged to publicly profess Christ as our Savior in baptism  together!

Unfortunately, I didn't learn how to be a disciple of Christ until many years later, when a youth pastor showed me that you didn't have to be my parents' age to follow Christ.  In the summer of 1998 I rededicated my life to Christ, and made an honest commitment to follow Him as best as I could.  God has been very faithful to myself and my family!

I graduated from Hamilton High School in Chandler in May of 2001, and attended the University of Arizona and graduated in the summer of 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Music.  I also played college football at the UA, reshirting for one year, sitting out another with an injury, and then finally having a very successful season in 2003.  However, in the midst of that season, God made it very clear that I was called to be in ministry, and after the season I gave up the sport.

Since then, God has led me to several churches, serving mostly as an interim youth minister.  In the fall of 2004 I began serving at Mountain View Baptist as a worship leader for the youth ministry, and in January of 2006 I was ordained as the church's Pastor to Students and have been serving here ever since.

On February 3rd, 2007 I married my beautiful college sweetheart Danielle.  I knew I was marrying an amazing woman who loved the Lord, but I soon found out that she was also an amazing youth group volunteer!  Since our marriage she has been an incredible help to my ministry at Mountain View.

My hope and prayer is to train and equip students to be obedient to the Great Commission passages (found in Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15-16, Luke 24:47, John 20:21-22, and Acts 1:8):  to be quality disciples in speech, life, love, faith, and in purity, and to be quality disciple-makers, knowing how to share their faith effectively and personally.

Judy Peterson - Office Manager
judyp@mvbctucson.org

Judy and her husband Bob moved to Tucson in 1997.  A year later Judy joined the team at Mountain View.  Judy has a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from NorthWest Missouri State University with a secondary Ed. Teaching Credential.  She has, in the past, been an Elementary Teacher as well as a Home Economist with the Extension Service.  More recently she was the Director of a non-profit day care center in Oregon and then in Tucson when she first moved here.

Bob and Judy have three children, all grown and out of the house.  They love to visit their children but enjoy their "empty nest" also.  Their oldest child, Rob, lives in Eugene, OR with his wife Stacy and their two little boys (Bob and Judy's special grandchildren) Matthew and David.  Rob is a 3rd grade teacher in an elementary school.  Their middle child, Leslee, lives and works in Beaverton, OR as a middle school teacher.  Their youngest child, Alicia, lives in Tucson with her husband and works as a 3rd grade teacher at Craycroft Elementary School in South Tucson.

When Judy's not working at the church or relaxing at home, she and Bob are volunteers with FamilyLife Conferences, an affiliate of Campus Crusade for Christ.  FamilyLife puts on marriage conferences, called Weekend to Remember, all across the country. Judy and Bob are part of the team that works on the Tucson conference, which is held each June.  Judy enjoys her marriage to Bob and believes that her husband is a gift from God to treasure.  She believes that godly marriages provide a foundation, not only for children and the family, but for the church, and to provide a strong responsible citizenry for the country.  Therefore she is "all about" supporting marriages and families.

Judy enjoys her work here at Mountain View and has made many good friends.  She plans to continue working at the church for as long as God allows - and prays that will be a good long time!!

Sally Addison - Receptionist
office@mvbctucson.org

Sally Addison came to Tucson in December 2003, two years after the death of her husband of 46 years.  She joined the staff of Mountain View part-time in January '05.  Sally and Don had lived in Oklahoma for 15 years.  They were originally from Louisiana and moved to Dallas for 10 years before moving to Oklahoma.  Sally worked for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in Shreveport and Dallas and retired in 1980.  She later received an Associate Degree in Business from Mountain View Community College in Dallas and then went back to school and received a nursing degree from Murray State College in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. While in Oklahoma, she worked in a nursing capacity at a local nursing facility for several years.

Sally and Don had three children.  Daughter Donna and Son-in-law Walter, live in Okla.  She is an RN at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas; son Don, Jr., moved to Tucson, also an RN,  at the Northwest Medical Center on LaCholla.  Son, Scott, a graduate of University of Texas (Arlington) in  engineering  works at Raytheon here in Tucson.  Her youngest granddaughter, Andie, daughter of son Scott and Daughter-in-law Angie, lives here in Tucson.  She also has a granddaughter, Rachael, here in Tucson, two grandsons in Oklahoma and one granddaughter and a great grandson, Liam,  in Montana.

Sally joined MVBC after having visited two or three times when visiting her family here in Tucson.  When moving here, she had no doubts as to which church she would join.  Sally is a member of the Hospitality Team here at Mountain View.  Knowing God had a purpose for her in Tucson, she visited the ministry fair held at MVBC in the fall of '04 and with her love and dedication to the elderly found the ministry offered by Northwest Interfaith Center to be that purpose.  Now known as ICS (Interfaith Community Services) they offer services to the elderly, handicapped, needy and homebound in Tucson.  She has helped with driving services to grocery stores, pharmacies and doctor's appointments.  Also, being a nurse, she serves at ICS by doing evaluations in the homes of those needing additional help or community assistance. This helps them to stay in their homes as long as possible.  This association has been a real blessing in her life.
